Newburyport, Massachusetts

One of the great things about Boston is you can get to a lot of places in the Greater Boston area by train - either by commuter rail or Amtrak. Newburyport is an easy commute on the commuter rail. It's about an hour commute from North Station - which isn't too bad if you want to avoid traffic. Of course, you have to depend on the commuter rail that has set times it will depart throughout the day and hope it's not delayed. Knock on wood that I haven't had that happen.

I decided to venture to Newburyport for the day because I had not been there before and was looking for a new place to go. Especially with the longer weekend {I decided to take some vacay days!}, it was perfect for a little getaway. I spent the afternoon exploring Newburyport. I didn't realize it was going to rain today until I checked the weather 10 minutes before leaving my apartment. I grabbed a sweatshirt and was happy I did. The clouds became darker as we reached Newburyport.

Luckily, the rain held off until mid-afternoon. It down poured for about 20 minutes then the sun came out. I mainly stayed in the downtown area as most places were a farther walk. I suppose I could have Ubered to Plum Island, but there were plenty of shops and things to see downtown.

One of the first things I did was find a place to eat. I ended up at Angie's Diner and ordered a lobster roll. It was the biggest lobster roll I had ever seen in my life. Lobster was overflowing - which, I'm not complaining about. It was a bit messy to eat, but very worth it.

I love quaint New England coastal towns. They're very cute and easy to fall in love with! Take a look at my day below:
