Book Review | From this Moment On

It has taken me {roughly} two years to finish From this Moment On by Shania Twain. Why has it taken me this long? I began reading it when I lived in California then I left it there because it is a rather large book. When I went home in November, I packed it with me so I could finish reading it and take it off of my Goodreads list. Plus, now that I commute on a train every day, I read a lot more often.

I am a huge fan of Shania Twain. I've been a fan since the 5th grade and I've always loved her music. I have been waiting for her to release new music. I saw her in concert over the summer. She's a phenomenal performer.

However, the book was a little slow for me. It was very insightful on her past, but there were times where it was repetitive. I knew that she had a hard past before gaining exposure in the entertainment industry. I did not realize how difficult it was until reading the book. I also learned a lot about her career from the book. I did not realize she never wanted to solely be a country artist. She had always to preferred to be an artist, but in the industry, you have to have a label. The label thrust upon her was a country artist. Her last album, Up! had three versions. I had always wondered why there was a red and green version - I never knew what it meant. There were three versions - a country version, a pop version, and a general version. It was really cool how she did this - the red and green versions (country and pop) reached the top of the charts.

If you're a huge fan of Shania, I would recommend the book. As I said, it's insightful on her life and you learn quite a bit about her!

Have you read the book? What did you think of it?
