Hello, California!

Oh, California, how I've missed you.

I landed in Fresno at 11:45 AM Saturday morning. The flight was okay. It seemed so long. I think I was ecstatic to be going home that I wanted time to speed by. On my Delta flight to Salt Lake City {{ if you're flying from the East Coast you'll always have to catch a connecting flight when flying in to Fresno }} they had a flight tracker - which is possibly the best and worst thing. It's great because you can see how long it will be until you touch down, but at the same time, it seemed as time could not pass by fast enough. I watched Pitch Perfect 2 thinking it would be half the trip, but I still had a long ways to go once the movie ended. If you're wondering if you should watch Pitch Perfect 2, my recommendation would be to not watch it. I was not impressed.

My layover from SLC to Fresno was originally 30 minutes. Luckily, the flight from Boston left early and arrived early so I had enough time to get from one terminal to another terminal. I made my flight and the hour and 15 minute ride seemed like eternity. I just wanted to land. I finally made it to Fresno then had to wait for the airport workers to connect the walkway to the plane so we could get off the plane. It was a struggle. They finally connected the walkway and we were able to get off. My parents were waiting for me in the lobby, we grabbed my checked bag then headed off to lunch.

My first meal in California was at Sequoia Sandwich Company. This place is so delicious and I highly recommend it. My favorite sandwich is the Chicken + Bacon Club. After eating lunch, we headed back home and my fur babies were so happy to see me. That evening we had a dessert party with family members. It was a great time being able to see everyone.

Sunday is football day. If you're a Patriots fan, I'm sure you were frustrated / on the edge of your seat the entire game. We definitely were and were yelling at the TV the whole time. I even dressed Miss Bella in a Patriots jersey. Of course, I was also really disappointed when my favorite player had to leave the game because of a foot injury. I called that he had broke it - just throwing that out there. Yes, I dress a dog - but only when it's game days. In the evening I had dinner with one of my college roommates and her family.

My body still hasn't adjusted to the time change, so getting up at 6:00 seems so early, yet my body thinks its 9:00. My body will eventually readjust - most likely when it will be time for me to leave.

Today {{ this whole week, really }} is a busy day, but it feels good to be home. Instead of city smells, there are country smells - aka manure. Instead of tall buildings, there are trees, farming plots, etc. It even rained for about half the day yesterday. As I'm writing this, I'm staring out the window and looking at the gorgeous sunny day and clear blue skies. My hometown has even grown. A Chipotle is coming, Hobby Lobby has arrived, The Habit, Jimmy John's... It's crazy what changes in a year when you're gone!
