I escaped a storm in Boston with a couple of friends one weekend and spent some time in the sun in Atlanta. I had never been to Atlanta but had heard great things about the city. I was excited to go and explore. I had a great time exploring the city.
If you're going, here are a few things to do while you're in Atlanta:
Ponce City Market
Ponce City Market was one of my favorite spots in Atlanta. There is a food hall and shops. So you can eat and shop in the same place. Something that's cool is you can order alcohol from one of the restaurants and walk around with it in the building.
We didn't realize this when we popped into City Winery, but they just opened a location in Boston. I tried a flight of white wine - I loved all of the wines I tried! A friend and I shared the southern popcorn. You must try the popcorn. It's delicious and will change your life. Okay, maybe not really, but you won't regret it.
Martin Luther King Jr. Birth House
Stop by and see Martin Luther King Jr.'s birth house! You can see the inside of the house via a tour. We stopped by on a Saturday which is a "Open House" day from 2 to 4 PM. We popped by earlier than the open house, so we weren't able to see the inside. Tours are usually held every day during certain hours.
World of Coca-Cola
Stop by the World of Coca-Cola. It's $17 to get in with tours starting every 10 minutes. Plan on spending a couple of hours here, as there is a lot to see. I'm not a huge Coca-Cola fan, but really enjoyed learning about the company.
Centennial Olympic Park
If you're a fan of the Olympics, check out the Centennial Olympic Park. There are quite a few statues to check out. Plus, it's a beautiful park and a perfect spot to sit and relax for a bit.
Have you been to Atlanta? What are some of your favorite spots?
